Over the past ninety years, Egged buses have been servicing tens of thousands of passengers per day, between Israel's north and south extremities, from the Mediterranean beaches, through the old city of Jerusalem, and to any border point in the southern desert region.

 

Leading the public transit industry

Egged has almost 35% of the market share in Israel's transit industry.

The company aspires to provide reliable, available, and quality public transit service so that it will be chosen repeatedly as the best traveling option by all Israeli passengers.

More than 99.5% of all Egged trips are carried out under the traffic map which is dictated by the Ministry of Transport, meaning that at the end of the first half of 2019, Egged's deviations from the service index is only about 1%.

 

Organizational Structure

The Egged PT division includes five operational clusters and five departments. This organizational structure is the result of a comprehensive restructuring process intended to improve the service to passengers, improve the group's profitability, be the preferred employer among public transit drivers, and continue to lead the public transit industry in Israel.

Egged's operational clusters include:

  • The Haifa Metropolitan Area
  • The Tel Aviv Metropolitan Area
  • Intercity North, including the Galil, Yizrael Valley and Sharon Planes North
  • Intercity South, including Ashdod, Ashkelon, Beer Sheva, Dimona and Eilat
  • The Jerusalem Metropolitan Area

The departments include:

  • Customer Service department
  • Traffic planning, information and control department
  • Eco-driving department
  • Review department
  • Safety and maintenance department
