Welcome to the LRT

A culture of modern travel in the Tel Aviv Metropolitan Area: Life in the Tel Aviv Metropolitan Area is about to change dramatically: the traffic volume on the Red Line track is expected to decrease, the quality of air in busy streets is expected to improve immensely, and the passengers will enjoy fast, reliable and accessible mass transit services.

What will a routine LRT ride be like? Important information worth knowing already:

No waiting

LRT frequency - every 3 minutes. Meaning passengers will wait under three minutes at their station. It's the time needed to arrive, pay or validate your trip and get on board a railcar.

Missed it?  The next railcar will arrive in 3 minutes!

Accessibility for all

All the Red Line stations will be fully accessible to the entire public, at any age.  Means of accessibility will be integrated at the stations for the blind, the hearing impaired, and people with mobility impairments. The LRT will also be accessible for people in wheelchairs and people pushing strollers.

Pay, then ride

Payment will be made in full prior to boarding the ride! Street level stations will be equipped with card validation and cash payment machines. Payment and validation in the underground stations will be done at the point of entry.

City assimilation

The 24 street level stations are designed to be inseparable from the street, so they will not interfere with pedestrian traffic in their area.

Every station will be equipped with payment machines, as well as electronic information stands accessible to all. Additionally, each station will be equipped with several payment and validation machines.

A world underground

Ten of the LRT stations will be located underground, in the stretch connecting Petah Tikva (Em Hamoshavot station) and Alenby street in Tel Aviv. These stations are planned to blend into the city's fabric without creating a burden on the main traffic arteries.

Electronic and manned information stands, as well as validation and payment machines, will be installed at station entries. Entry is gained only after payment is made.

After payment, inside the station, escalators and accessible elevators will be available to take the passengers to their desired platforms.

Safety first!

To ensure passenger safety and continuous LRT service, all subway stations will be equipped with double railcar doors. The first door will be on the edge of the platform, to prevent access to the track. The second door will be the railcar door. The two doors will open only after the railcar reaches the station and stops completely. Before the journey resumes, both doors will close simultaneously.
