Egged clusters

Until 2017, the Egged PT division operated in three areas of operation, divided geographically.

Following the Ministry of Transport reform that opened the market to competition in the public transit industry, a decision was made to change the operational structure of the Egged PT division, to produce an optimal organizational structure that will adapt to the changing reality of public transit.

The vision behind the partition into five operational clusters holds that it will give Egged several competitive advantages:

  • Each cluster is the point of contact between the PT division and the local authorities, conducting high quality, ongoing, direct communications with all the local agencies.
  • The geographical proximity and activity features within the cluster, enable operational flexibility to improve performance.
  • The clusters work as profit centers, and they are subject both to the group and the regulator.
  • Supervising compliance with the service and performance indexes of the Ministry of Transport is easier and more accurate.
