Rav-Kav: Israel's Travel Card

Rav-Kav is a "smart card" which may be loaded with a travel fare contract*. The smart chip in the card will adjust the fare to your personal data and will provide with the discounts you are entitled to.

 

 

Please note! When the profile expires (student, youth, etc.) loaded on the Rav-Kav  tickets that had been purchased at the discount provided by the profile, can not be used.
Students Notice: Changing the status to a regular student status (33%) requires presenting a student card and valid student approval.


Personal Rav Kav Card


Personal Rav Kav Card issued free of charge. The card includes your personal name, ID number, photograph and eligibility for discounts (senior citizen, student, youth, National Insurance Institute eligibility and etc.)  Each relevant discount can only be given via the Personal Rav Kav Card.  The card  provide you with the discount automatically with each additional reload. Personal Rav Kav Card is for personal use and is not transferable. The card may be reloaded on board with various types of ride tickets: monthly pass Hofshi Hodshi, multi-ride tickets and etc. It is not possible to refund the remaining credit.


How to get the Personal Rav Kav Card?

  1. Visit one of our Rav Kav service points or the nearest Al Ha-Kav issue station.  Bring along your ID card or passport, and all appropriate documents, if you are eligible for a discount
  2. Load your Rav-Kav card with appropriate travel fare contract (monthly pass or other).

 

Anonymous Rav Kav Card


In contrast to the Personal Rav Kav Card, passenger's personal details are not required when applying for Anonymous Rav Kav Card. An Anonymous Card issued for a one-time payment of NIS 5.00 and may be purchased from the driver or at sales points. The card may be reloaded on board with multi-trip ticket and accumulated value granting 20% discount, as well as with weekly and daily pass. A monthly pass (Hofshi-Hodshi) contract may not be loaded. Anonymous card does not provide discounts for eligible passengers. The card is not insured: in case of loss, stolen or damaged unused contracts cannot be refunded.


How to get the Anonymous Rav Kav Card?

  1. Purchase the card from the bus driver, at one of the Al Ha-Kav issue stations,  at central bus stations or major railroad stations for a one-time cost of NIS5.00
  2. Please note, no personal information will be collected or stored.
  3. There will be no insurance in case of card loss or theft
  4. Special profiles and discounts do not apply for this card type.

Semi - Anonymous Rav Kav Card


A Semi - Anonymous Card issued for a one-time payment of NIS 5.00 and may be purchased at sales points. The card includes your personal name, ID number, photograph. The card grants all public transportation discounts the passenger is entitled to by law (such senior citizen, student, youth, National Insurance Institute eligibility and etc.). Discounts are granted when charging the card, the card is personal and may not be transferred to others. All personal information is saved on the card, but NO information regarding the card owner's trip is saved. The card may be reloaded on board with various contracts, including monthly pass (Hofshi-Hodshi) and accumulated value. The card is not insured: in case of loss, stolen or damaged unused contracts cannot be refunded.

  1. Visit one of our Rav Kav service points or the nearest Al Ha-Kav issue station.  Bring along your ID card or passport, and all appropriate documents, if you are eligible for a discount.

FAQ


If passengers with a residence permit are eligible for discount on public transport?

From 22.11.2016 passengers with a temporary residence permit (student visa, temporary residence visa, special visa for religious reason etc.) are eligible for public transport discounts like Israeli citizens, for a period of at least 12 months.
 

How to recharge the Rav Kav card?

The Rav Kav card may be reloaded by one the mobile apps, like Rav Kav Online or Hop On. For more options contact the ministry of transport *8787

 

Who should I contact in case of lost/theft/damage of my Personal Rav Kav card?

You should contact one of the Al Ha-Kav issue stations and report the loss/theft. Bring along your ID card, passport or driver license. You'll be issued a new card with restored fare contracts. There is a fee of NIS10.00 for issuing a replacement card.

 

What is Accumulated Value?

Accumulated Value is a travel arrangement that allows charging the Rav-Kav with a monetary value and can be bought for the following amounts: 30 / 50 / 100 / 150 / 200 NIS. Each time the card is charged, it is credited with a value higher than the value paid, based on the passenger's entitlement. For instance, senior citizen (50% discount) charging the Rav Kav card with the amount of NIS 50.00 will be credited with the value of 100.00. When the Rav Kav card is validated, the full rate of trip is deducted from the accumulated value.

Discounts are given when charging, according to passenger's entitlement. Rav Kav card can be charged with accumulated value for the following tickets and codes:

  • Haifa Metropolitan Area: transit ticket - codes 1, 2, 4, 6
  • Gush Dan (Tel Aviv-Yaffo + Outskirts) : transit ticket - codes 41, 42, 43, 44
  • Codes 71, 72, 74, 76, 3, 5, 7, 8, 11, 16, 20, 23, 25, 28, 31, 32, 63, 13 , 35, 51


Can Rav Kav card hold more than one discount?

Rav Kav Card can hold one discount in addition to main discount program (e.g. senior citizens, students, etc )

 

How many travel contracts can hold  Rav Kav card?

Rav Kav Card can hold up to eight  different travel contracts at the same time.

 

I have Rav Kav card issued by other public transportation operator. Can I ride Egged buses?

Yes, you can. Rav Kav issued by other public transportation operator may be reloaded with various types of ride contracts in Egged buses.

 

How much does it cost to obtain Personal Rav Kav card?

You'll get your first personal Rav Kav card at no cost.

 

Can I change contracts loaded to my Rav Kav card?

Contracts loaded to your Rav Kav card cannot be changed

 

Until when is the Rav-Kav card valid?

The Rav-Kav (both personal or anonymous) is valid and may be reloaded for a period of 8 years from the time of issue

 

How is a Rav-Kav issued for children?

A child (up until the age of 16) must come accompanied by a parent. The identity card of the parent must be brought to the station. Children over the age of 16, who are legally required to hold an identity card, can apply for a Rav Kav independently.

 

How is a Rav-Kav issued for children in foster care?

A foster parent can issue a Rav-Kav for a foster child, no involvement of biological parent is needed. Please, insure you bring on a Foster Care Verification Form signed by an organization your family belongs to. Those organizations provide foster service in Israel: Or Shalom, Summit Institute, Matav Association, Shachar, EDNM-Omna.


Can two or more people share same Rav Kav card?

Two or more people can share the same card if it's loaded with regular multi-ride ticket.

 

I have an ‘old’ style unused paper ticket. How to get a refund?

If you travel within a zone where paper tickets became obsolete, send an unused paper ticket to:
