Passengers can now board buses in Jerusalem from back door

The Ministry of Transport and the National Authority for Public Transportation, in collaboration with Egged, are embarking on a more convenient and faster journey with you.

Starting Monday, January 11, 2016 Rav Kav card holder will be able to board the bus from any door (on marked buses only) and validate* their Rav Kav at the automatic machines, instead of paying the driver.
Following a successful pilot run in Tel Aviv, the Ministry of Transport launched the program in  Egged bus routes in Jerusalem. The first buses that will allow passengers to use all doors for boarding will be about 230 buses on 14 Egged's routes in Jerusalem. The change will reduce the line to get on the bus, shorten waiting times, improve the passengers’ travel experience, and make it possible for passengers to start their journey without any unnecessary delays. More streamlined, more convenient, and faster! The drivers will not have to spend as much time taking payment from passengers and will focus on driving. The project is part of our indefatigable efforts to give our passengers better service and better public transportation.

An automatic validation* system that doesn’t require the passenger to go through the driver will operate on marked buses. With the new validation system, passengers can board the bus from the back door, easily and quickly, without any unnecessary delays. Validation will be done using a loaded Rav Kav card for an appropriate travel contract, at the automatic stations, inside the bus.

You’ll be able to board the bus from any of the doors on the following routes* : 19, 20 24, 27, 29 59, 68, 69, 71, 72, 74, 75, 77, 78

*On marked buses only
